Progress is key. Many people make the mistake of giving up the first day they try something and find out they don't get immediate results or it's more difficult, than they thought. The unfortunate reality is, that it can take a long time before you completly turn your life around. However, every single step you take, every little progress you make, noone will ever take from you. Time keeps mercilessly going forward and it is up to us, whether we use it to do something productive for us and those around you, or whether we trade it for a momentary pleasure only to feel empty a while later. The funny paradox is, that from a purely selfish perspective, the most hedonistic way to live your life is by moderating your hedonistic behavior, as it brings you more happiness in the long term.

It can be difficult to summarize a universal guide, as different people face different problems.
